Uke Express South
Time & Location
About The Event
All aboard the fabulous UKE Express, travelling from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard and back, on board private carriages full of ukulele playing! Kick off the weekend on Friday 5 April with Mike and Caroline Krabbers at the Beach Hotel, Minehead, with their famous Unplugthewood jam night (bring your uke!). Then on Saturday, steam through the beautiful West Somerset countryside, enjoying sea views as you play along to our specially provided songbook! There’s plenty of space so you can easily sit together if you come with a group.
Arriving at Bishop’s Lydeard, we’ve arranged a concert by the uke and brass duo, the Tin Roof Strollers at the local brewery, where you can purchase a range of real ales and ciders, plus buy some lunch from local artisan food stalls.
Then, back aboard for another musical journey on the return leg to Minehead, where we’ll have a great night’s entertainment from The Hedge Inspectors and The League of Ukulele Gentlemen - who will play at the lovely function room at the Beach Hotel.
There is loads of choice when it comes to staying in the seaside town of Minehead, from top hotels to campsites. There are a limited number of rooms at the venue, the Beach Hotel, which we have booked and are available to reserve here. All rooms include tickets to every part of the weekend. There are hotel doubles and singles, plus a small number of twin rooms in their ‘flexi wing’, which are clean rooms but with more basic furnishings - think ‘no frills’ for those!
Double hotel rooms, Friday and Saturday night, with access to each part of the event cost £329 (per couple), single hotel rooms are £215 with a ticket to all parts of the event, while two full tickets and a ‘flexi wing’ twin room costs £280.
The accommodation is on a bed and breakfast basis.
